Playbacks (description)

In this context, the term playback does not refer to lip-syncing, but to an instrumental version of a musical piece without a vocal melody.

In the productions of GEERDES media, "playback" refers to an instrumental track provided exclusively in MP3 audio format.

A distinction is made between Playbacks, Pro-Playbacks, and ProV-Playbacks.

Playbacks are based on MIDI files and are fully produced using virtual instruments (e.g. VST plugins). Sound generation is achieved exclusively through synthetic or sampled sounds.

Each playback is then individually mixed and mastered.

Pro-Playbacks differ in that the underlying MIDI files may be revised when necessary to achieve a more realistic and higher-quality production. In addition, real instruments (e.g. guitars) can be integrated into the production.

ProV-Playbacks are based on Pro-Playbacks but additionally include recorded background vocals.
